A two-year-old boy from Georgia named Beckham Reed is fighting for his life after being stung more than 150 times by yellowjackets. He had been riding in his electric toy car when he accidentally rolled over a nest in the backyard.
The swarm attacked immediately, and Beckham was badly stung all over. His father rushed to save him, getting stung himself, and took him straight to the hospital.
Doctors at the first emergency room gave him morphine and Benadryl. They said he seemed to be breathing fine and sent him home. But things got worse.
By the next day, Beckham had started turning yellow, and his father rushed him to a different hospital. There, doctors realized his organs were starting to shut down.
His liver, heart, and kidneys were all being affected. The medical team acted fast and put him on life support. They intubated him and started dialysis. He was also given IV medications as they worked to stabilize him.
According to the family’s GoFundMe, Beckham’s condition changed fast. His parents say the first hospital missed how serious it was and that time was lost. Now, they are just focused on keeping him alive. The little boy is still on life support as of the latest updates.
