NEED TO KNOW
- ABC News Studios’ new docuseries Born to Be Viral: The Real Lives of Kidfluencers follows a number of family vloggers, including Fishfam YouTubers Kyler and Madison Fisher
- In the series, the parents of five gestured toward the steep income they’ve been able to generate through content creation; Kyler suggested the numbers are comparable to the price of an “entire college career”
- The Mighty McClure family also featured in the series. Justin and Ami McClure referred to similar success online, with pay ranging in the hundreds of thousands of dollars
Kyler and Madison Fisher got candid about their careers on camera while filming ABC News Studios’ new docuseries Born to Be Viral: The Real Lives of Kidfluencers.
The six-episode special spotlights a number of family YouTubers and child content creators, including the household behind the Fishfam channel, which the Fishers started in 2016. The show is six years in the making; the crew followed the featured vloggers as their children grew up, capturing evolving trends and attitudes.
Born to Be Viral addresses how these families find significant financial success online, and the Fishers were outspoken about the cash flow they’ve generated by making videos with their five kids: twin daughters Taytum and Oakley, 9, daughter Halston, 6, and sons Oliver, 4, and Cohen, 3.

Kyler — who is now pursuing a country music career in addition to vlogging — gave a general idea of just how high their family income can range. “There are some days where we could pay for an entire college career in one day,” he told cameras during episode 1. “The sky’s the limit in this business.”
Later in the series, Kyler echoed his own sentiment from years before as he reiterated the extent of their income: “There are some days where we’re able to make as much money or more than 90 percent of people in this world make in one day of work,” he said during episode 5, adding, “How could you ever complain?”
While the Fishers veered away from giving specific numbers, the docuseries also focused on the McClure family, who were upfront with the film crew when explaining the scope of their income. Like Kyler and Madison, parents Ami and Justin McClure create content with their two twin daughters (and one younger son) for their channel, the Mighty McClures.
Ava and Alexis — who will both turn 12 on July 13 — have since started their own account as an offshoot on the family page. The Mighty McClures have 4.16 million YouTube fans, but the girls’ channel, titled The McClure Twins, has already surpassed the broader unit with a total of 4.49 million subscribers.
During their first appearance in Born to Be Viral‘s second episode, Ami said the family could bring in “up to $150,000 in one month” between brand deals and money from YouTube advertisements. In footage filmed a few years later, as shown in episode five, preteens Ava and Alexis said that they secured a Nike brand deal for about $125,000.
All six episodes of Born to be Viral: The Real Lives of Kidfluencers are available to stream on Hulu.
